He was a PCA Presbyterian minister in the New River Presbytery and was pastor of the Winifrede Church for 11 years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray L. Deal.
Surviving are his wife, Lois Deal of Winifrede; sons, Matthew G. Deal and David J. Deal of Winifrede; and mother, Helen Deal of Nebo, N.C.
The funeral was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at Winifrede Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Rollins officiating. Burial followed in Massey Cemetery, Winifrede. Friends called from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at Leonard Johnson Funeral Home, Marmet.
In lieu of flowers, donations were made to Winifrede Presbyterian Church for a new church sign, HC 87, Box 247, Winifrede, WV 25214.
